Narrative:
In sum: reporter is commuter pilot who had 4 scheduled flts. During the second flight, schedule was changed to fly an overnight and return next day. Supposedly that would end the day for reporter, but no one told him this. Upon completion of these flts there was no first officer for a departing round trip flight and reporter believed he was scheduled for that position and made the flts. Because that last flight had emergency and scheduling had not replaced him, result was 9 hours, 47 mins in 24 hours with 8 hour reduced rest. Reporter reviewed situation with scheduling, his supervisor, and review board member and alpa representative. All agreed that scheduling was vague and not coordinated in the scheduling changes. Conclusion is that both scheduling and reporter were negligent.
