Narrative:
I'm a first officer for airlines and on sep/xx/93 I unintentionally violated the far of 30 hours in 7 days. I was scheduled for 30.6 hours and I actually flew 30.3 hours. If I would have been aware of this prior to reporting to work, I would have informed our scheduling department to have myself removed from the trip. However, scheduling was also unaware. Scheduling and I both missed this, but I'm writing this to try and protect myself because I am obviously the person the FAA would try to violate if they found this out. Our scheduling department is not yet computerized in regards to the 30 in 7 for our pilots. Scheduling and the pilots are responsible for keeping track of this and, unfortunately, it slipped by both of us. The problem began when I accepted, and scheduling approved, 2 trip trades. I originally was scheduled for 2 reserve days, each worth 3.8 hours. The trip trades were 6.0 and 6.9 hours, respectively, which amounted to 30.6 hours. I'm interested in obtaining additional information from NASA about what exactly are the advantages and some of the limitations of filling this report out. I.e., does this make me immune to a violation? If caught by the feds on this particular situation what good does this report do? Would it be on my record for 2 yrs? What are some other actions I could take to protect myself here?

Title: AFTER TRADING UP TO 2 SCHEDULED TRIPS PLT FINDS HIMSELF EXCEEDING THE 30 HRS IN 7 DAY PERIOD.
Narrative: I'M A FO FOR AIRLINES AND ON SEP/XX/93 I UNINTENTIONALLY VIOLATED THE FAR OF 30 HRS IN 7 DAYS. I WAS SCHEDULED FOR 30.6 HRS AND I ACTUALLY FLEW 30.3 HRS. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THIS PRIOR TO RPTING TO WORK, I WOULD HAVE INFORMED OUR SCHEDULING DEPT TO HAVE MYSELF REMOVED FROM THE TRIP. OUR SCHEDULING DEPT IS NOT YET COMPUTERIZED IN REGARDS TO THE 30 IN 7 FOR OUR PLTS. SCHEDULING AND THE PLTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING TRACK OF THIS AND, UNFORTUNATELY, IT SLIPPED BY BOTH OF US. THE PROB BEGAN WHEN I ACCEPTED, AND SCHEDULING APPROVED, 2 TRIP TRADES. I ORIGINALLY WAS SCHEDULED FOR 2 RESERVE DAYS, EACH WORTH 3.8 HRS. THE TRIP TRADES WERE 6.0 AND 6.9 HRS, RESPECTIVELY, WHICH AMOUNTED TO 30.6 HRS. I'M INTERESTED IN OBTAINING ADDITIONAL INFO FROM NASA ABOUT WHAT EXACTLY ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND SOME OF THE LIMITATIONS OF FILLING THIS RPT OUT. I.E., DOES THIS MAKE ME IMMUNE TO A VIOLATION? IF CAUGHT BY THE FEDS ON THIS PARTICULAR SIT WHAT GOOD DOES THIS RPT DO? WOULD IT BE ON MY RECORD FOR 2 YRS? WHAT ARE SOME OTHER ACTIONS I COULD TAKE TO PROTECT MYSELF HERE?
