Narrative:
During flap retract after departing runway 11L msp, #4 leading edge slat failed to retract. Air carrier company cockpit operating manual was followed to no avail. An attempt was made to raise the leading edge slat using the alternate system to no avail. Msp dispatch and maintenance control was consulted to see if they had any suggestions. The answer was no and we were advised to return to msp. A visual approach and landing was made to runway 11L.

Title: A RETURN LAND IN A NIGHT OP MANDATED BY ACFT EQUIP PROB MALFUNCTION.
Narrative: DURING FLAP RETRACT AFTER DEPARTING RWY 11L MSP, #4 LEADING EDGE SLAT FAILED TO RETRACT. ACR COMPANY COCKPIT OPERATING MANUAL WAS FOLLOWED TO NO AVAIL. AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO RAISE THE LEADING EDGE SLAT USING THE ALTERNATE SYS TO NO AVAIL. MSP DISPATCH AND MAINT CTL WAS CONSULTED TO SEE IF THEY HAD ANY SUGGESTIONS. THE ANSWER WAS NO AND WE WERE ADVISED TO RETURN TO MSP. A VISUAL APCH AND LNDG WAS MADE TO RWY 11L.
