Narrative:
On descent into bos we were given a crossing over an intersection that is 1 mi from the providence VOR. (I think it is baath intersection.) by the time it was located on the map we could not make the crossing altitude. We advised ZBW and they advised to do the best we could. The intersection is located on the low altitude map so that it is very difficult to find. (Mileage to fix and fix itself is difficult to locate.) I feel that any fix used should be easier to locate on the map and well defined when it is used on an arrival.
