Narrative:

I departed ashville, nc, in VFR WX approximately XA00 pm local oct/fri/93. I filed IFR just in case. I filed electric city VOR, rome VOR. Approximately 10-15 mins into the flight, center asked if I wanted direct. I accepted and was approved rome direct. Later on in the flight, I was asked by center if I was IFR rated, my reply was yes. End of conversation. The flight proceeded to a hold over rmg VOR, missed approach to 4a4, then approach and landing at rome, GA, at approximately XC45 pm local.
