Narrative:
Air carrier flight took off from cle airport on runway 23L after being cleared for takeoff on runway 23R. This incident happened because of poor crew coordination and miscom. Taxiing out for takeoff, single engine to conserve fuel, flight was cleared to taxi to runway 23L. After starting the second engine late, I called for the takeoff checklist. While we were completing the takeoff checklist, the ground controller switched flight over to cle tower. As soon as we switched to cle tower, in the middle of our takeoff checklist, flight was cleared for takeoff. As it turned out, cle tower had cleared us to cross runway 23L and cleared another aircraft to takeoff on runway 23R. I didn't hear cleared to cross 23L and takeoff on runway 23R but I thought I heard 'cleared to takeoff on runway 23L.' no conflict. I rushed the first officer where he was no longer in the loop but only working hard to complete the takeoff checklist. My crew management broke down by not giving the first officer and myself the necessary time to do our jobs. The takeoff situation in cle on runway 23L and 23R is most demanding and requires full attention by all crew members.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG ACR ACFT TOOK OFF FROM THE WRONG RWY AT CLE DUE TO DISTR OF 'RUNNING' BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST LATE, LAST MIN START OF SECOND ENG AND THE UNUSUAL RWY LAYOUT.
Narrative: ACR FLT TOOK OFF FROM CLE ARPT ON RWY 23L AFTER BEING CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 23R. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED BECAUSE OF POOR CREW COORD AND MISCOM. TAXIING OUT FOR TKOF, SINGLE ENG TO CONSERVE FUEL, FLT WAS CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 23L. AFTER STARTING THE SECOND ENG LATE, I CALLED FOR THE TKOF CHKLIST. WHILE WE WERE COMPLETING THE TKOF CHKLIST, THE GND CTLR SWITCHED FLT OVER TO CLE TWR. AS SOON AS WE SWITCHED TO CLE TWR, IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR TKOF CHKLIST, FLT WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. AS IT TURNED OUT, CLE TWR HAD CLRED US TO CROSS RWY 23L AND CLRED ANOTHER ACFT TO TKOF ON RWY 23R. I DIDN'T HEAR CLRED TO CROSS 23L AND TKOF ON RWY 23R BUT I THOUGHT I HEARD 'CLRED TO TKOF ON RWY 23L.' NO CONFLICT. I RUSHED THE FO WHERE HE WAS NO LONGER IN THE LOOP BUT ONLY WORKING HARD TO COMPLETE THE TKOF CHKLIST. MY CREW MGMNT BROKE DOWN BY NOT GIVING THE FO AND MYSELF THE NECESSARY TIME TO DO OUR JOBS. THE TKOF SIT IN CLE ON RWY 23L AND 23R IS MOST DEMANDING AND REQUIRES FULL ATTN BY ALL CREW MEMBERS.
