Narrative:
Pushed back aircraft from inside hangar to ramp/taxiway just like we have always done since I started flying here in 1982. Upon contact with ground control, we find we have pushed onto an ATC movement area. No one in company (chief pilot, director of operations, president, director of maintenance) is aware of new movement area. Upon further research in aim, only FBO, FSS, airport operations (and of course ATC) get information on new movement (ATC controled) areas. This information needs to be passed on to users. Especially users who are used to operating under different rules. In this instance, it appears dtw airport operations is the responsible party. Above all, this airport operations should be sensitive to the importance of this issue. Solution: 1) airport operations notifies all customers. 2) ATC notifies all customers during normal operations and during grace period (1 month?). Do this by informing operations who taxi to/from this area. 3) mark movement areas.

Title: A CPR LGT CAPT WAS SURPRISED BY A CHANGE IN THE RULES FOR ACFT MOVEMENT AT DTW.
Narrative: PUSHED BACK ACFT FROM INSIDE HANGAR TO RAMP/TXWY JUST LIKE WE HAVE ALWAYS DONE SINCE I STARTED FLYING HERE IN 1982. UPON CONTACT WITH GND CTL, WE FIND WE HAVE PUSHED ONTO AN ATC MOVEMENT AREA. NO ONE IN COMPANY (CHIEF PLT, DIRECTOR OF OPS, PRESIDENT, DIRECTOR OF MAINT) IS AWARE OF NEW MOVEMENT AREA. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH IN AIM, ONLY FBO, FSS, ARPT OPS (AND OF COURSE ATC) GET INFO ON NEW MOVEMENT (ATC CTLED) AREAS. THIS INFO NEEDS TO BE PASSED ON TO USERS. ESPECIALLY USERS WHO ARE USED TO OPERATING UNDER DIFFERENT RULES. IN THIS INSTANCE, IT APPEARS DTW ARPT OPS IS THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY. ABOVE ALL, THIS ARPT OPS SHOULD BE SENSITIVE TO THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS ISSUE. SOLUTION: 1) ARPT OPS NOTIFIES ALL CUSTOMERS. 2) ATC NOTIFIES ALL CUSTOMERS DURING NORMAL OPS AND DURING GRACE PERIOD (1 MONTH?). DO THIS BY INFORMING OPS WHO TAXI TO/FROM THIS AREA. 3) MARK MOVEMENT AREAS.
