During cruise flight at FL330, en route mia to bwi, we noticed the #1 engine oil temperature in the yellow band. After following the abnormal checklist we accomplished an engine shutdown of the #1 engine. We declared an emergency and decided to divert to the sav airport. We landed and had a new oil temperature gauge put on. We proceeded to bwi. Supplemental information from acn 257283: we declared an emergency, passed fuel and souls on board, contacted sav operations, had emergency equipment standing by, had passenger assume the brace position, and confirmed all appropriate checklists were completed.
