Narrative:
I had a hard landing that resulted in a collapsed front gear and resultant propeller strike damage. The runway was 27 and the wind at the time on the ground was 180 at about 7-10 mph. However, upon flying around the pattern, I found the wind very high just above the ground. As I approached the ground on short final, the wind, which had been very strong and gusty, suddenly diminished and the plane dropped and landed hard and a little short. The front gear collapsed and the propeller struck the runway. There were no injuries and I was the only occupant in the plane. Damage was to the propeller and front gear and front gear doors. I feel the problem was one of wind shear close to the ground and, when the wind changed, the plane lost lift and was too close to the ground to save the landing or go around. There was virtually no time involved, no mush or stall warning, just a quick beep from the stall horn and boom, on the ground.

THE FRONT GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE PROP STRUCK THE RWY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND I WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT IN THE PLANE. DAMAGE WAS TO THE PROP AND FRONT GEAR AND FRONT GEAR DOORS. I FEEL THE PROB WAS ONE OF WIND SHEAR CLOSE TO THE GND AND, WHEN THE WIND CHANGED, THE PLANE LOST LIFT AND WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE GND TO SAVE THE LNDG OR GAR. THERE WAS VIRTUALLY NO TIME INVOLVED, NO MUSH OR STALL WARNING, JUST A QUICK BEEP FROM THE STALL HORN AND BOOM, ON THE GND.
