Narrative:
Cll-dfw was delayed in taking off from college station for the flight to dfw. During initial takeoff roll, aircraft right engine ctot did not appear to engage when selected and the takeoff was aborted. Upon further testing it was discovered that the right ctot would engage with a 5-8 second lag behind the left engine ctot. The decision was made to use a method a takeoff to preclude the negative effects of a power imbal during a critical phase of flight. The takeoff was normal in all aspects and flight to dfw was uneventful. Upon arrival at dfw the system was written up and maintenance was notified. Maintenance met the airplane upon arrival and the captain informed the mechanics of the details of the occurrence. Method a takeoff is a takeoff where power is set with brakes held until power is set and full indication of setting is verified. When second takeoff attempt was made all indications were normal and no indications of a malfunction existed.

Title: FLC OF AN LTT ACR ACFT ABORTED TKOF DUE TO A SLOWER THAN NORMAL 'ENG SPOOL UP' ON 1 ENG.
Narrative: CLL-DFW WAS DELAYED IN TAKING OFF FROM COLLEGE STATION FOR THE FLT TO DFW. DURING INITIAL TKOF ROLL, ACFT R ENG CTOT DID NOT APPEAR TO ENGAGE WHEN SELECTED AND THE TKOF WAS ABORTED. UPON FURTHER TESTING IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE R CTOT WOULD ENGAGE WITH A 5-8 SECOND LAG BEHIND THE L ENG CTOT. THE DECISION WAS MADE TO USE A METHOD A TKOF TO PRECLUDE THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF A PWR IMBAL DURING A CRITICAL PHASE OF FLT. THE TKOF WAS NORMAL IN ALL ASPECTS AND FLT TO DFW WAS UNEVENTFUL. UPON ARR AT DFW THE SYS WAS WRITTEN UP AND MAINT WAS NOTIFIED. MAINT MET THE AIRPLANE UPON ARR AND THE CAPT INFORMED THE MECHS OF THE DETAILS OF THE OCCURRENCE. METHOD A TKOF IS A TKOF WHERE PWR IS SET WITH BRAKES HELD UNTIL PWR IS SET AND FULL INDICATION OF SETTING IS VERIFIED. WHEN SECOND TKOF ATTEMPT WAS MADE ALL INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL AND NO INDICATIONS OF A MALFUNCTION EXISTED.
