Narrative:

Also alerted maintenance to excessive oil on the bottom of the cowling on the r-hand engine, but I did not write this discrepancy in the maintenance log since myself and the mechanics were outside of the aircraft. After replacing the r-hand starter generator, the mechanics sprayed the engine with degreaser. Once again, we proceeded with reboarding the passenger at XB10. We departed mem at XB40. After 20 mins of flight the first officer alerted me to the fact that we had lost all oil pressure on the r-hand engine. We did not have any cwp lights or aural warnings. I went through the emergency checklist and found that with no oil pressure and no lights or warnings, we could continue service and not to do a precautionary engine shutdown. I performed a lamps test on the cwp panel to make sure all lights were working. All were in working order. I then notified maintenance control in mem and explained everything in progress. Maintenance said we should continue services under these conditions that the problem was probably an electrical plug or gauge. I agreed. At approximately XC25 the engine seized up with no warnings. The memory items were performed securing the r-hand engine. We then ran the checklist, notified ATC and the flight attendant. We landed at shv with crash fire rescue equipment equipment waiting and taxied to the gate with no further incident. Our company does not allow us to open the cowling to check the oil or any other component on the engine. We have had numerous incidents involving cowlings coming open in-flight, so we are now banned from opening the cowlings. As PIC, I feel it my duty to check oil and any other components under the cowling for the safety of my passenger, other flight crew members and myself. We are beginning to have many maintenance problems.

Title: R ENG SEIZED AFTER A '0' OIL PRESSURE READING WAS IGNORED.

Narrative: ALSO ALERTED MAINT TO EXCESSIVE OIL ON THE BOTTOM OF THE COWLING ON THE R-HAND ENG, BUT I DID NOT WRITE THIS DISCREPANCY IN THE MAINT LOG SINCE MYSELF AND THE MECHS WERE OUTSIDE OF THE ACFT. AFTER REPLACING THE R-HAND STARTER GENERATOR, THE MECHS SPRAYED THE ENG WITH DEGREASER. ONCE AGAIN, WE PROCEEDED WITH REBOARDING THE PAX AT XB10. WE DEPARTED MEM AT XB40. AFTER 20 MINS OF FLT THE FO ALERTED ME TO THE FACT THAT WE HAD LOST ALL OIL PRESSURE ON THE R-HAND ENG. WE DID NOT HAVE ANY CWP LIGHTS OR AURAL WARNINGS. I WENT THROUGH THE EMER CHKLIST AND FOUND THAT WITH NO OIL PRESSURE AND NO LIGHTS OR WARNINGS, WE COULD CONTINUE SVC AND NOT TO DO A PRECAUTIONARY ENG SHUTDOWN. I PERFORMED A LAMPS TEST ON THE CWP PANEL TO MAKE SURE ALL LIGHTS WERE WORKING. ALL WERE IN WORKING ORDER. I THEN NOTIFIED MAINT CTL IN MEM AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING IN PROGRESS. MAINT SAID WE SHOULD CONTINUE SVCS UNDER THESE CONDITIONS THAT THE PROB WAS PROBABLY AN ELECTRICAL PLUG OR GAUGE. I AGREED. AT APPROX XC25 THE ENG SEIZED UP WITH NO WARNINGS. THE MEMORY ITEMS WERE PERFORMED SECURING THE R-HAND ENG. WE THEN RAN THE CHKLIST, NOTIFIED ATC AND THE FLT ATTENDANT. WE LANDED AT SHV WITH CFR EQUIP WAITING AND TAXIED TO THE GATE WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. OUR COMPANY DOES NOT ALLOW US TO OPEN THE COWLING TO CHK THE OIL OR ANY OTHER COMPONENT ON THE ENG. WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS INCIDENTS INVOLVING COWLINGS COMING OPEN INFLT, SO WE ARE NOW BANNED FROM OPENING THE COWLINGS. AS PIC, I FEEL IT MY DUTY TO CHK OIL AND ANY OTHER COMPONENTS UNDER THE COWLING FOR THE SAFETY OF MY PAX, OTHER FLC MEMBERS AND MYSELF. WE ARE BEGINNING TO HAVE MANY MAINT PROBS.
