Narrative:
Vectors to runway 31R stadium visual approach at dfw. Controller stated 'air carrier X traffic at 2 O'clock, disregard, turn left to a heading of 060 degrees, descend to 3000 ft.' approximately 30 seconds later we got a TCASII advisory of traffic at our 10-11 O'clock position, 1000 ft below us and climbing. We leveled off. Controller then told us to climb back to 5000 ft and turn to 120 degree heading. We were at about 4600 ft at this time. Controller seemed to be very busy. Winds were gusting 25-30 KTS out of the west, which created some nonstandard operations at dfw. Several other airplanes had similar call signs. No TCASII evasive action taken.

Title: FLC OF AN LGT ACR ACFT WAS INSTRUCTED TO CLB BACK TO PREVIOUS ALT DUE TO MISTAKE DUE TO CTLR WORKLOAD AND SIMILAR SOUNDING CALL SINGS.
Narrative: VECTORS TO RWY 31R STADIUM VISUAL APCH AT DFW. CTLR STATED 'ACR X TFC AT 2 O'CLOCK, DISREGARD, TURN L TO A HDG OF 060 DEGS, DSND TO 3000 FT.' APPROX 30 SECONDS LATER WE GOT A TCASII ADVISORY OF TFC AT OUR 10-11 O'CLOCK POS, 1000 FT BELOW US AND CLBING. WE LEVELED OFF. CTLR THEN TOLD US TO CLB BACK TO 5000 FT AND TURN TO 120 DEG HDG. WE WERE AT ABOUT 4600 FT AT THIS TIME. CTLR SEEMED TO BE VERY BUSY. WINDS WERE GUSTING 25-30 KTS OUT OF THE W, WHICH CREATED SOME NONSTANDARD OPS AT DFW. SEVERAL OTHER AIRPLANES HAD SIMILAR CALL SIGNS. NO TCASII EVASIVE ACTION TAKEN.
