Narrative:
During descent for final approach both pilots smelled fumes which were similar to fumes found around oil refineries. First officer (PF) turned directly toward field. Smoke was observed coming from top of glare shield. First officer told captain to turn off his windshield heat. Smoke stopped but fumes became stronger. Both pilots put on oxygen masks and first officer landed at white plains. Passenger were deplaned at normal ramp due to its extremely close proximity to runway. Aircraft was examined by maintenance and maintenance was performed. No more smoke was observed but fumes were noted. Approximately 30 mins after aircraft was secured, first officer's windshield shattered. Crew was rescheduled.

PAX WERE DEPLANED AT NORMAL RAMP DUE TO ITS EXTREMELY CLOSE PROX TO RWY. ACFT WAS EXAMINED BY MAINT AND MAINT WAS PERFORMED. NO MORE SMOKE WAS OBSERVED BUT FUMES WERE NOTED. APPROX 30 MINS AFTER ACFT WAS SECURED, FO'S WINDSHIELD SHATTERED. CREW WAS RESCHEDULED.
