Narrative:
I was giving dual instruction on touch and goes at pne. Both a normal preflight and run-up were completed in accordance with the aircraft pilot's operating handbook (poh). No observation or discrepant responses occurred during either inspection. On the third takeoff in a series of touch-and-goes after reaching an altitude of approximately 500 ft AGL, a complete power loss occurred without warning, forcing an emergency landing. I took control of the aircraft and, because of its proximity, returned and made safe landing on an intersecting runway. There was no damage to either person or property. A resultant notice of inspection, dated dec/xx/93, is enclosed. Note: as of dec/xx/93, the subject carburetor is no longer in the aircraft or available for inspection. Inspection of engine revealed: carburetor leaking fuel. Fuel primer line to strainer broken. #4 cylinder head separating from cylinder body, leaking oil. Aircraft grounded until unairworthy items corrected.

Title: ENG FAILURE ON SMA WHILE TRAINING IN PROGRESS. INSTRUCTOR PLT MAKES EMER FORCED LNDG ON AN INTERSECTING RWY.
Narrative: I WAS GIVING DUAL INSTRUCTION ON TOUCH AND GOES AT PNE. BOTH A NORMAL PREFLT AND RUN-UP WERE COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACFT PLT'S OPERATING HANDBOOK (POH). NO OBSERVATION OR DISCREPANT RESPONSES OCCURRED DURING EITHER INSPECTION. ON THE THIRD TKOF IN A SERIES OF TOUCH-AND-GOES AFTER REACHING AN ALT OF APPROX 500 FT AGL, A COMPLETE PWR LOSS OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING, FORCING AN EMER LNDG. I TOOK CTL OF THE ACFT AND, BECAUSE OF ITS PROX, RETURNED AND MADE SAFE LNDG ON AN INTERSECTING RWY. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO EITHER PERSON OR PROPERTY. A RESULTANT NOTICE OF INSPECTION, DATED DEC/XX/93, IS ENCLOSED. NOTE: AS OF DEC/XX/93, THE SUBJECT CARB IS NO LONGER IN THE ACFT OR AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. INSPECTION OF ENG REVEALED: CARB LEAKING FUEL. FUEL PRIMER LINE TO STRAINER BROKEN. #4 CYLINDER HEAD SEPARATING FROM CYLINDER BODY, LEAKING OIL. ACFT GNDED UNTIL UNAIRWORTHY ITEMS CORRECTED.
