Narrative:
An asb requiring a component change was published by the aircraft manufacturer. The deadline for compliance was dec/fri/93. My company has voluntarily agreed to comply with manufacturer's asb's and has so stated in the approved aircraft inspection program for my aircraft. We operate at a remote contract site away from the home office. Our mechanic contacted the maintenance department at the home office several weeks prior to the deadline and was told that compliance was not required. I assured myself of the company's position on compliance with this asb before accepting any flts. I have now been told that we are, in fact, required to comply, and that the 2 flts carrying passenger under part 135 on jan/X/94 were not legal. Additionally, I flew a ferry flight on jan/Y/94 under part 91, the legal status of which I am not certain.
