Narrative:
The airplane had a very thin layer of smooth brittle ice about 4 inches wide on the de-ice boots of main wing and tail. Airplane was cranked and taxied away from FBO to remote section of ramp where engine power was increased for runup and de-ice boots were activated and cycled properly and I observed all ice depart the boots. We then continued the taxi and takeoff. During this period apparently 2 FAA representatives were observing our operation. They did not observe our de-ice operation. They talked with my supervisor indicating that I had taken off with ice on the airplane. I did not. They requested I contact them. I did. They did not indicate that they would take any action. I did not takeoff with ice on the airplane.
