Narrative:

I flew an aircraft operated by air carrier X airlines. The flight was from iad to swf without incident. 2 days later I learned that the aircraft may not have been legal to fly. Apparently the aircraft was involved in a part swapping incident with another aircraft which is apparently not legal in this case. The aircraft part that was written up was a yaw-damper. It was interchanged with the other aircraft and worked fine, so it was put back on original aircraft and released for service. I had no knowledge of this until 2 days later.
