Narrative:
This pilot inadvertently flew aircraft in an unairworthy condition on a revenue flight leg from ord to stl (flight XXX - - feb/xx/95). Condition occurred because of a misinterp of MEL item 23-15 by maintenance and an illegal deferral of said item.
