Narrative:

Upon being given clearance to taxi from ground control. I saluted the marshaller, who in turn gave a hand motion for a right hand turnout from the jetway. Within seconds of the initiation of the right hand turn, I felt 2 shudders of the aircraft. I immediately stopped the aircraft and was informed by the marshaller that the left wingtip had contacted the jetway. The aircraft was shut down at that time. Cause: insufficient clearance for wing to clear the jetway. The marshaller had only been at the station for 3 days and thought the aircraft had sufficient room to clear the jetway. There were no markings on the ground that the marshaller could use to insure clearance had been obtained.
