Narrative:
I was practicing VFR maneuvers with my students who is in the pre-solo stages of training. We were approximately 3 NM west of allaire airport (uncontrolled field) at 4000 ft MSL. After 2 clearing turns, my student established herself in slow flight on a southwest heading. I asked her to demonstrate a left turn in slow flight. As we passed through a southeast heading, my student commented, 'wow, what is that.' since we were in a left turn, I had to strain from my seat on the right to look out her window. I saw a dc-8-71 streaking towards us. I took control of my plane from the student, and I added full power, took 1 notch of flaps out, continued the left turn, and attempted to climb. As the dc-8 passed by, I could clearly read air carrier company on the aircraft. In my best estimation, I would say we were at the same altitude and we missed each other by no more than 200 ft. I do not know if the other aircraft was under radar contact, but the area I was in is controled by mcguire approach and as best I could, it looked like the dc-8 was heading in the direction of mcguire AFB (wri). I had my mode C transponder on altitude during the entire duration of my flight, and if the dc-8 was indeed under control by mcguire approach, then this occurrence should not have occurred. It did not appear that the dc-8 took any evasive maneuvers.

Title: SMA PRACTICING MANEUVERS HAS NMAC WITH DC-8. XING TFC.
Narrative: I WAS PRACTICING VFR MANEUVERS WITH MY STUDENTS WHO IS IN THE PRE-SOLO STAGES OF TRAINING. WE WERE APPROX 3 NM W OF ALLAIRE ARPT (UNCTLED FIELD) AT 4000 FT MSL. AFTER 2 CLRING TURNS, MY STUDENT ESTABLISHED HERSELF IN SLOW FLT ON A SW HDG. I ASKED HER TO DEMONSTRATE A L TURN IN SLOW FLT. AS WE PASSED THROUGH A SE HDG, MY STUDENT COMMENTED, 'WOW, WHAT IS THAT.' SINCE WE WERE IN A L TURN, I HAD TO STRAIN FROM MY SEAT ON THE R TO LOOK OUT HER WINDOW. I SAW A DC-8-71 STREAKING TOWARDS US. I TOOK CTL OF MY PLANE FROM THE STUDENT, AND I ADDED FULL PWR, TOOK 1 NOTCH OF FLAPS OUT, CONTINUED THE L TURN, AND ATTEMPTED TO CLB. AS THE DC-8 PASSED BY, I COULD CLRLY READ ACR COMPANY ON THE ACFT. IN MY BEST ESTIMATION, I WOULD SAY WE WERE AT THE SAME ALT AND WE MISSED EACH OTHER BY NO MORE THAN 200 FT. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE OTHER ACFT WAS UNDER RADAR CONTACT, BUT THE AREA I WAS IN IS CTLED BY MCGUIRE APCH AND AS BEST I COULD, IT LOOKED LIKE THE DC-8 WAS HDG IN THE DIRECTION OF MCGUIRE AFB (WRI). I HAD MY MODE C XPONDER ON ALT DURING THE ENTIRE DURATION OF MY FLT, AND IF THE DC-8 WAS INDEED UNDER CTL BY MCGUIRE APCH, THEN THIS OCCURRENCE SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. IT DID NOT APPEAR THAT THE DC-8 TOOK ANY EVASIVE MANEUVERS.
