Narrative:

I was flying with a student on mar/xx/94. In the morning, we were in the pattern at lynchburg (lyh) in a PA 28R- 201. We were performing an emergency landing simulation. We looked several times starting with left base for gear down 3 in the green indication. We checked on left base, final, and short final for these indications. All indications were that the gear was down and locked. We proceeded with a smooth landing and rolled about 300 ft when the right gear collapsed. We did our best to maintain directional control and came to a stop on the right side of the runway approximately 10-15 ft from the edge. We shut the engine down and turned the fuel off. There was no engine damage. There was a slight fuel leak from the fuel vent which was stopped when the aircraft was put onto all 3 gear again. There was little damage to the aircraft and there were no injuries. Airport safety officials responded quickly to the scene to insure that there were no injuries, or no further risk of danger. The aircraft is presently being evaluated to see what the problem is.

Title: INSTRUCTOR WITH STUDENT HAS GEAR COLLAPSE ON LNDG ROLL.

Narrative: I WAS FLYING WITH A STUDENT ON MAR/XX/94. IN THE MORNING, WE WERE IN THE PATTERN AT LYNCHBURG (LYH) IN A PA 28R- 201. WE WERE PERFORMING AN EMER LNDG SIMULATION. WE LOOKED SEVERAL TIMES STARTING WITH L BASE FOR GEAR DOWN 3 IN THE GREEN INDICATION. WE CHKED ON L BASE, FINAL, AND SHORT FINAL FOR THESE INDICATIONS. ALL INDICATIONS WERE THAT THE GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED. WE PROCEEDED WITH A SMOOTH LNDG AND ROLLED ABOUT 300 FT WHEN THE R GEAR COLLAPSED. WE DID OUR BEST TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CTL AND CAME TO A STOP ON THE R SIDE OF THE RWY APPROX 10-15 FT FROM THE EDGE. WE SHUT THE ENG DOWN AND TURNED THE FUEL OFF. THERE WAS NO ENG DAMAGE. THERE WAS A SLIGHT FUEL LEAK FROM THE FUEL VENT WHICH WAS STOPPED WHEN THE ACFT WAS PUT ONTO ALL 3 GEAR AGAIN. THERE WAS LITTLE DAMAGE TO THE ACFT AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. ARPT SAFETY OFFICIALS RESPONDED QUICKLY TO THE SCENE TO INSURE THAT THERE WERE NO INJURIES, OR NO FURTHER RISK OF DANGER. THE ACFT IS PRESENTLY BEING EVALUATED TO SEE WHAT THE PROB IS.
