Narrative:
Upon taxi to runway 17 the pilot stated he had no brake on the left side. Aircraft was in a slight right turn and needed left brake to assist correction of direction. I was in the right seat. Tried my brake and there wasn't any, so I pulled the mixtures, because we were headed for an airport sign. We struck the sign and the right main gear hit either the sign or the concrete base causing the aircraft to pull right, side loading the nose gear causing it to collapse. Damage was mostly the nose gear and attach point. No injuries.
