Narrative:
Cleared to hold west, 281 degree radial. 10 mi legs. After a couple cycles in pattern, crew was distracted with diversion preparation and missed turn to outbound while passing VOR. Approximately 5-6 mi east, center reminded us of holding instructions. Crew started right turn. Center directed left turn back to VOR and confirmed we understood holding instructions. We reentered holding and diverted to alternate 15 mins later.
