Narrative:

Original flight lead had a UHF radio failure and passed the lead to me. We were given a vector of 350 degrees and cleared to descend from FL180 to 14000 ft. During the descent, the wingman asked a question on the VHF radio which I could not understand. As I was relaying to him the situation, I transited to 12200 ft and immediately corrected to 14000 ft. Center notified me of the deviation and noted my correction to 14000 ft. The remainder of the flight was uneventful. Center relayed that no traffic conflict had existed.
