Narrative:
In sum: a pilot, flying a bell 206 B III for the texas department of public safety, was called to a fire area to perform patrol, observation, and command post work. After a news airplane and a formation of USAF training jets flew through the area, the reporting pilot assumed that a restr area had been formulated by someone else over the fire area when in fact all that had been done was for an agreement with sheppard air force base to keep its aircraft out of the area. The reporting pilot was falsely informed that a restr area had been formulated by NOTAM. On the third day of the fire, the reporting helicopter pilot chased down a piper cherokee flown by the texas department of transportation. The reporting pilot joined up on the cherokee and found that the cherokee had official business in the area checking on some of its road graders. Later that evening, the reporting pilot received a call from someone in ZFW stating that ZFW had received an anonymous call from a PF for another state agency complaining about an aircraft joining up on him to falsely state that the aircraft had no business in a restr area. The anonymous caller informed ZFW, who informed the reporter, that there had been no NOTAM issued for the fire area.
