Narrative:
While flying back from bimini, bahamas, to ft. Lauderdale (kfll), I encountered a near miss situation. At approximately 18 NM southeast of kfll I established radio contact with the kfll tower and radar contact shortly after that. At approximately 14 NM southeast of kfll and level at 1000 ft the kfll tower informed me that there was unidented traffic at my 2 O'clock position and 4 NM heading sbound (I was heading 300 degree). Since I felt we were on a potential collision course I informed the tower that I was going to descended to 500 ft. A min later the tower informed me that traffic was at 2 O'clock and closing. I was at 800 ft and looked at my 2 O'clock position and saw a falcon jet approaching. I quickly descend to 500 ft by the time the falcon passed just over and behind me. A min later I heard a falcon talking to the fll tower identing themselves as a united states aircraft doing some surveillance work.

I WAS AT 800 FT AND LOOKED AT MY 2 O'CLOCK POS AND SAW A FALCON JET APCHING. I QUICKLY DSND TO 500 FT BY THE TIME THE FALCON PASSED JUST OVER AND BEHIND ME. A MIN LATER I HEARD A FALCON TALKING TO THE FLL TWR IDENTING THEMSELVES AS A UNITED STATES ACFT DOING SOME SURVEILLANCE WORK.
