Narrative:
During cruise, TCASII issued an RA 'climb', then 'climb now' with vsi (vertical speed indicator) asking for maximum rate of climb. I started an immediate climb and left turn to avoid traffic which appeared to be climbing directly into our flight path head on. Traffic passed below us. We told center immediately of our actions. We climbed 300 ft and turned 30 degrees to the left. TCASII advised monitor 'vertical speed,' then clear of conflict. ATC gave us instructions to initially turn right, but we had already started a left turn. He assigned a heading and altitude back on course when conflict had passed. Center told us that the intruder had acted upon an RA for his TCASII and had climbed right into our altitude, which in turn set our TCASII alert off. Our system worked well. And ATC thanked us for our actions and cooperation.

Title: ACR MLG EXPERIENCED OPPOSITE DIRECTION TFC THAT HAD A TCASII LOGIC PROB. POTENTIAL CONFLICT.
Narrative: DURING CRUISE, TCASII ISSUED AN RA 'CLB', THEN 'CLB NOW' WITH VSI (VERT SPD INDICATOR) ASKING FOR MAX RATE OF CLB. I STARTED AN IMMEDIATE CLB AND L TURN TO AVOID TFC WHICH APPEARED TO BE CLBING DIRECTLY INTO OUR FLT PATH HEAD ON. TFC PASSED BELOW US. WE TOLD CTR IMMEDIATELY OF OUR ACTIONS. WE CLBED 300 FT AND TURNED 30 DEGS TO THE L. TCASII ADVISED MONITOR 'VERT SPD,' THEN CLEAR OF CONFLICT. ATC GAVE US INSTRUCTIONS TO INITIALLY TURN R, BUT WE HAD ALREADY STARTED A L TURN. HE ASSIGNED A HDG AND ALT BACK ON COURSE WHEN CONFLICT HAD PASSED. CTR TOLD US THAT THE INTRUDER HAD ACTED UPON AN RA FOR HIS TCASII AND HAD CLBED RIGHT INTO OUR ALT, WHICH IN TURN SET OUR TCASII ALERT OFF. OUR SYS WORKED WELL. AND ATC THANKED US FOR OUR ACTIONS AND COOPERATION.
