Narrative:
After landing at iad, we were instructed to park at a. We entered the ramp at point kilo. After arrival at a, the marshaller signaled for us to double back and enter at east. He was trying to taxi us between a parked aircraft and another air carrier jetway. While taxiing very slowly, the marshaller continued to motion the captain toward the right wing walker, which was standing directly under the right wingtip, was also motioned to come forward. A slow left turn was motioned by the marshaller followed by the stop signal which was simultaneously and verbally confirmed by the first officer (me) while watching the right wing walker all the time. The captain taxied as he was instructed by the marshaller. After the passenger deplaned, maintenance came onboard. The captain asked him how close to the jetway are we? He responded that the aileron hit the jetway. We were also informed by maintenance that this was at least the 4TH or 5TH time this has happened at xyz airlines in the past 3 months, that planes have taxied into objects. The main problem is trying to fit way too many airplanes into too small of an area at iad. Plus the wing walker didn't have the correct training to be put in that position. (It was his 1ST day on line.) supplemental information from acn 268689: when we arrived at the same gates the next morning we noted that all the jetways between a and east were raised wing enough to clear the wings of the 'dash 8' aircraft which are parked there.
