Narrative:

Gear door open light came on during cruise. Communication procedures followed. Per maintenance continued to dtw. Light brilliance varied and would go out briefly in turbulent air: suspected bad switch. Figuring light would remain on with gear extension, consulted with maintenance as to whether or not they preferred to float doors or not. They did so. We followed communication and landed with good gear down indications except gear door open light remained on. Emergency gear extend lever pulled for landing and maximum stopping executed. Requested airport emergency assistance. Landing made without incident and maintenance secured gear and doors on the runway 27R.
