Narrative:
Upon the final phase of landing rollout on gdl runway 28, tower issued (mumbled) unintelligible instructions to rollout so as to hold short of runway 02. I was given immediately prior to the stated intersection and in such time that, when it finally sunk in and was finally understood by the captain, several seconds passed and required a heavy brake application to get slowed down. We came to stop with 1/3 to 1/2 of the aircraft in the runway intersection. The controller gave no other warning or instruction, gave this one too late to respond, garbled the message, and failed to ask for a readback. Upon stopping, we saw a light single engine airplane at a stop and turning off of runway 20 far to our right. There was no real proximity of the aircraft, no sense of imminent danger, but the communication and foresight were pitiful.
