Narrative:
I flew a cessna 152 too close to my high school in new paltz, ny. I am an 18 yr old student pilot. I was on my 4TH unsupervised solo flight, needless to say I was a little overwhelmed. I departed kingston airport in kingston, ny, at about XA30 am. Heading south, I arrived over new paltz high school at about XA45 am. Some contributing factors to my decision were my altimeter was not set properly and I was not as familiar with the FARS as I am now. On wkdays I attend a flight school where I learn to fly. In the afternoons I attend new paltz high school. Aside of the fact that I was excited of my new found freedom, the decision I made was not a conscientious one. This was definitely a case of poor judgement. When I returned to my high school my principal spoke with me. The police were also notified and the incident was then turned over to the FAA. I realize now the consequences that could have happened. Luckily there were no fatalities. In the future I know that I will stop and think before doing.
