Narrative:
3 1/2 hours into our flight I had engine failure. 9 mi and 4 mins away from landing. At 3000 ft MSL I went through emergency procedures mags, tanks, mixtures, etc. Was not able to regain enough power. Looked for closest place to land, saw cascade lake, tried to make it, we were not able. Set the aircraft down in creekbed next to cascade lake. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states the insurance company bought the aircraft from him within about 5 days. FAA called him to discuss situation and he has heard nothing since. Damage to floats was minimal. He does not know if any engine problems were determined from maintenance inspection.
