Narrative:
After an uneventful arrival to gate at pdx from sna and oak, I went via the ramp to company operations to inspect and collect the paperwork for the next flight to sna. As it was a warm morning, I left my uniform jacket hanging in the cockpit. Upon my return to the aircraft (approximately under the right wing) I was stopped by 2 men and asked for my identify. I then realized I had left my identify in my jacket pocket and explained this to the 2 men who identified themselves as an FAA employee and a part of portland employee. They verified my indent with my copilot through the cockpit window, and I proceeded to fly the remainder of the trip uneventfully. So as not to get in this situation again I shall keep my identify in my shirt breast pocket except when needed to be displayed.
