Narrative:
While operating flight kmia to saez cleared by ZMA FL330 direct to usr. Upon passing muha fir contacted havana center 123.7 route clearance direct usr A301 as filed was confirmed. Being too heavy for FL330 requested and obtained clearance to climb and maintain FL290. Approximately 28 DME from usr VOR while slow climbing (300 FPM) through FL282 crossed opposite traffic Y, apparently at FL280 and approximately 1 1/4 mi to our left. Just as we were going to alert havana center, Y airlines (not sure) reported the near miss to havana. About 3 mins before this crossing, havana center requested our altitude. We reported passing FL267 for FL290. We were executing our flight under normal circumstances, good WX, and were exactly on course. At no time did havana center notify us of opposite traffic.

Narrative: WHILE OPERATING FLT KMIA TO SAEZ CLRED BY ZMA FL330 DIRECT TO USR. UPON PASSING MUHA FIR CONTACTED HAVANA CTR 123.7 RTE CLRNC DIRECT USR A301 AS FILED WAS CONFIRMED. BEING TOO HVY FOR FL330 REQUESTED AND OBTAINED CLRNC TO CLB AND MAINTAIN FL290. APPROX 28 DME FROM USR VOR WHILE SLOW CLBING (300 FPM) THROUGH FL282 CROSSED OPPOSITE TFC Y, APPARENTLY AT FL280 AND APPROX 1 1/4 MI TO OUR L. JUST AS WE WERE GOING TO ALERT HAVANA CTR, Y AIRLINES (NOT SURE) RPTED THE NEAR MISS TO HAVANA. ABOUT 3 MINS BEFORE THIS XING, HAVANA CTR REQUESTED OUR ALT. WE RPTED PASSING FL267 FOR FL290. WE WERE EXECUTING OUR FLT UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES, GOOD WX, AND WERE EXACTLY ON COURSE. AT NO TIME DID HAVANA CTR NOTIFY US OF OPPOSITE TFC.
