Narrative:

The student and I were in the pattern doing touch and go lndgs. During the takeoff from the third landing, the engine lost power at 200 ft AGL that forced a landing just past the end of the runway. The comanche has 1 fuel gauge for both wing tanks. There is a switch to have the single gauge show the fuel quantity of the left or right wing tank. The gauge can be reading the fuel in 1 tank as the fuel is being used from the other tank as set by the tank selector handle. This is how I believe we starved the engine of fuel during the circuits around the airport.
