Narrative:

The crew came on duty at XA25 pm local on jul/xx/94. We did a continuous overnight (stand-up) getting off duty at AB40 am. The crew's and alpa's interpretation of the FARS show that if we are on duty for more than 15 hours that we need compensatory rest (24 hour look back). Our company chief pilot and director of flight operations interprets the FARS to say that if you were off duty before the stand up, that the 24 hour look back and the compensatory rest do not apply. We are told if we refuse the trip due to far interpretation that we will be terminated. The companies 'new' interpretation of these FARS started in late april when they received a letter from the company's poi on this subject. Alpa has asked that all pilots involved in this situation to ask the company to send an e-mail message to us stating that they are changing the FARS. The company has refused.
