Narrative:
Flight lax to bos experienced a series of mechanical malfunctions. We diverted to dtw. During late stage of climb, the center #1 electric hydraulic pump failed and overheated. 2 hours later at cruise, the left generator failed and would not reset. Started APU to provide second electrical source. After both the hydraulic pump failure and generator failure, contacted dispatch and maintenance control while following all company procedures. Approaching the chicago area, noted the right hydraulic quantity had decreased to the 'refill' level. While discussing this item with dispatch and maintenance control, experienced multiple electrical transients which kicked off the automatic-pilots, automatic throttle, and FMS. Accomplished electrical power interruption procedure and elected to divert. Re-released to dtw upon arrival. Dtw maintenance found substantial leak from the hydraulic service access compartment.
