Narrative:
On wed at XY00 pm terminal building gate at imperial county airport was found to be open and unattended. This gate is shared by the reporting carrier and one other air carrier. The reporting carrier's personnel may have been the last ones to have used this gate, handling an arrival at XY40 and a subsequent departure at XY55. Airport staff discovered the open gate and notified the carrier's station manager. The reporting carrier is investigating this matter to ascertain whether its employees were the ones who left the gate open. This is not only contrary to our FAA approved security program, but contrary to company policy. If it is determined that our employees were at fault they will be disciplined. In the interim, we have issued written bulletins to our stations personnel stressing the importance and need to secure airport gates.
