Narrative:
We are flying west lax-hnl at about the time and location noted. TCASII announced 'traffic alert.' traffic on scope at 12 O'clock at plus 1000, which would be FL340, eastbound, in appropriate direction of flight for R-576. 2000 ft of vertical separation is normal. Other aircraft observed to be dc-10 passed about 1 mi south and 1000 ft above us. Eastbound.
