Narrative:
During a very busy evening of WX deviations and sector saturation an error occurred which I feel could have created an accident/incident, was unsafe, and which cost the airlines a lot of money. Miami ARTCC tmu (flow control) advised area one that miami airport was closed due to WX. We began holding all miami arrs at which time several aircraft diverted to other airports. Unfortunately, the airport was never closed, the information was incorrect, and the present system we use lends itself to these types of errors. The holding created a huge workload on some pretty tired controllers. This has happened before with tmu's. I submitted a suggestion to create more accountability at this unit!

Title: FLOW CTL RPTED MIA ARPT CLOSED.
Narrative: DURING A VERY BUSY EVENING OF WX DEVS AND SECTOR SATURATION AN ERROR OCCURRED WHICH I FEEL COULD HAVE CREATED AN ACCIDENT/INCIDENT, WAS UNSAFE, AND WHICH COST THE AIRLINES A LOT OF MONEY. MIAMI ARTCC TMU (FLOW CTL) ADVISED AREA ONE THAT MIAMI ARPT WAS CLOSED DUE TO WX. WE BEGAN HOLDING ALL MIAMI ARRS AT WHICH TIME SEVERAL ACFT DIVERTED TO OTHER ARPTS. UNFORTUNATELY, THE ARPT WAS NEVER CLOSED, THE INFO WAS INCORRECT, AND THE PRESENT SYS WE USE LENDS ITSELF TO THESE TYPES OF ERRORS. THE HOLDING CREATED A HUGE WORKLOAD ON SOME PRETTY TIRED CTLRS. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE WITH TMU'S. I SUBMITTED A SUGGESTION TO CREATE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY AT THIS UNIT!
