Aircraft swap from 2 air carrier aircraft. Preflight called (air carrier X) maintenance. Maintenance said needed to call quality assurance. Quality assurance said it was legal to fly. Flew from tys to bna. Maintenance met aircraft gave me a copy of far 25.1541. Said flight was 'illegal.' put new placard in aircraft.
