Narrative:
1 of the initial approach fix intxns for the new kingston, ny, VOR-a siap is defined as jogyl. We don't know what the 'official' pronunciation is for this intersection, but some pilots and controllers might pronounce it 'jo-gull.' we believe that might be verbally confused with the jugle intersection, which is usually pronounced 'jew-gull' and which is part of the nearby poughkeepsie, ny, VOR DME runway 24 siap. Each of these intxns is defined by a radial from the pawling VOR (pwl) and a radial from the kingston VOR (ign). We recommend you reconsider the name of this new intersection. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: since the mid-september date of the reporter's letter to the ASRS, the reporter has talked with the tower supervisor at dutchess county airport at poughkeepsie. The tower chief agrees that there is a problem and is helping to change 'jogyl' to 'palen.' no date has been set for the completion of this change.

Title: AN ARPT USERS GROUP WANTS TO CHANGE THE NAME OF AN IAP TO REDUCE CONFUSION WITH ANOTHER FIX NEARBY.
Narrative: 1 OF THE INITIAL APCH FIX INTXNS FOR THE NEW KINGSTON, NY, VOR-A SIAP IS DEFINED AS JOGYL. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE 'OFFICIAL' PRONUNCIATION IS FOR THIS INTXN, BUT SOME PLTS AND CTLRS MIGHT PRONOUNCE IT 'JO-GULL.' WE BELIEVE THAT MIGHT BE VERBALLY CONFUSED WITH THE JUGLE INTXN, WHICH IS USUALLY PRONOUNCED 'JEW-GULL' AND WHICH IS PART OF THE NEARBY POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, VOR DME RWY 24 SIAP. EACH OF THESE INTXNS IS DEFINED BY A RADIAL FROM THE PAWLING VOR (PWL) AND A RADIAL FROM THE KINGSTON VOR (IGN). WE RECOMMEND YOU RECONSIDER THE NAME OF THIS NEW INTXN. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: SINCE THE MID-SEPTEMBER DATE OF THE RPTR'S LETTER TO THE ASRS, THE RPTR HAS TALKED WITH THE TWR SUPVR AT DUTCHESS COUNTY ARPT AT POUGHKEEPSIE. THE TWR CHIEF AGREES THAT THERE IS A PROB AND IS HELPING TO CHANGE 'JOGYL' TO 'PALEN.' NO DATE HAS BEEN SET FOR THE COMPLETION OF THIS CHANGE.
