Narrative:
I received a request to fly to andrews, tx, on an emergency medical transfer of a small cancer patient. Prior to takeoff I calculated a weight and balance and checked the WX (duats) and filed 2 IFR flight plans. 1 flight plan was from lubbock, tx, to andrews, tx, the other was for the return flight. While in-flight I received additional information on a serious automatic accident in andrews. We might have to delay the transfer of the cancer patient and switch to the higher priority accident victim. In my haste I did not check the NOTAMS when I filed my flight plans. Upon arrival at andrews I noticed the construction on runway 15, switched to runway 20 which had no markings and the construction on runway 15, switched to runway 20 which had no markings and did not have the 'runway closed' X on the approach end. After an uneventful landing. I was informed by the ambulance crew that the runway was closed for resurfacing. The runway closed X was on the approach end of runway 33. Later I departed at dusk without the help of runway lighting on runway 12 which was open. I did call for TA's on the CTAF (122.8 but no one answered my calls. I did not observe the runway closed. X on the approach end of runway 33 until after shutdown. I walked all of the runways taking note of all the construction areas. The runway that I landed on (runway 20) was not torn up and had a tar like sealer on a firm surface. The aircraft and it's passenger were never in any risk. I feel that standard runway closed. X's on each approach end would have corrected the entire situation.
