Narrative:
On arrival to las I was taxiing to the assigned gate and a B747 was pushed back along the small numbered gates, eg, 8, 7, and 6. We were assigned gate. Upon approaching the side of the B747 it was quite obvious that our little B737 could fit or taxi between the fence on the east side and stay well clear of the B747 during its push-back and start sequence. I confirmed this with my first officer and he concurred. After arrival at the gate and a crew change, my first officer met me upstairs away from the jetway and said that a man had approached the captain that was taking over the sequence and said that 'we barely missed the 747 and it was a careless and reckless maneuver.' this information reached me third-hand as I was not there to answer to or respond to this observation. No incident or event of any kind took place. All was a normal operation from start to finish. Knowing the mo of the FAA and the accessibility of 1-800 lines combined with the arrogance of pilots in general, I felt a NASA report was justified.

Title: SOMEONE ACCUSED THE RPTR OF TAXIING HIS ACFT IN THE VICINITY OF A BOEING 747 IN A CARELESS AND RECKLESS MANNER.
Narrative: ON ARR TO LAS I WAS TAXIING TO THE ASSIGNED GATE AND A B747 WAS PUSHED BACK ALONG THE SMALL NUMBERED GATES, EG, 8, 7, AND 6. WE WERE ASSIGNED GATE. UPON APCHING THE SIDE OF THE B747 IT WAS QUITE OBVIOUS THAT OUR LITTLE B737 COULD FIT OR TAXI BTWN THE FENCE ON THE E SIDE AND STAY WELL CLR OF THE B747 DURING ITS PUSH-BACK AND START SEQUENCE. I CONFIRMED THIS WITH MY FO AND HE CONCURRED. AFTER ARR AT THE GATE AND A CREW CHANGE, MY FO MET ME UPSTAIRS AWAY FROM THE JETWAY AND SAID THAT A MAN HAD APCHED THE CAPT THAT WAS TAKING OVER THE SEQUENCE AND SAID THAT 'WE BARELY MISSED THE 747 AND IT WAS A CARELESS AND RECKLESS MANEUVER.' THIS INFO REACHED ME THIRD-HAND AS I WAS NOT THERE TO ANSWER TO OR RESPOND TO THIS OBSERVATION. NO INCIDENT OR EVENT OF ANY KIND TOOK PLACE. ALL WAS A NORMAL OP FROM START TO FINISH. KNOWING THE MO OF THE FAA AND THE ACCESSIBILITY OF 1-800 LINES COMBINED WITH THE ARROGANCE OF PLTS IN GENERAL, I FELT A NASA RPT WAS JUSTIFIED.
