Narrative:
Upon departure in initial climb at approximately 5000 ft MSL. Smoke was detected in cabin. Smoke was of light to moderate density -- not immediately clear if it was electrical or other. ATC was informed that we would like to return to airport for precautionary landing. Approach asked if we needed assistance -- we responded 'not at the present time.' we vectored to the runway in use and proceeded to carry out 'smoke in cabin' checklist and to trouble-shoot possible causes. Smoke did not intensify and no evidence of fire was apparent -- save for smoke. We then requested upon turning final that emergency equipment be standing by. Normal landing completed -- and escorted to parking by emergency equipment. Having shut down all aircraft system and engines, smoke dissipated and aircraft was secured. Emergency services were released.
