Narrative:
We were in a lear 35 flying freight at night. We were inbound to cmh. Our routing takes us over bremn intersection to the ese of cmh. There we were switched over to cmh approach at 10000 ft. We were given a descent to 6000 ft. There was a semi-broken layer at about 5000 ft. This layer was not more than 500 ft thick. ATC informed us of traffic 2 O'clock, 5500 ft. Mode C indicated, but not talking to ATC. We were level at 6000 ft and had visual contact almost immediately. Traffic was crossing from our right to our left. The next transmission I recall was, traffic 12 O'clock, less than 1 mi, altitude indicating 5900 ft. That is when I took evasive action. I banked hard to the right, turned about 45 degrees right. When it appeared we were past him, we turned back toward cmh. At this point, we encountered his wake. We would have been on about a 310 degree heading initially. I don't know what type aircraft he was he was no bigger than us, but probably about the size of say a king air.

Narrative: WE WERE IN A LEAR 35 FLYING FREIGHT AT NIGHT. WE WERE INBOUND TO CMH. OUR ROUTING TAKES US OVER BREMN INTXN TO THE ESE OF CMH. THERE WE WERE SWITCHED OVER TO CMH APCH AT 10000 FT. WE WERE GIVEN A DSCNT TO 6000 FT. THERE WAS A SEMI-BROKEN LAYER AT ABOUT 5000 FT. THIS LAYER WAS NOT MORE THAN 500 FT THICK. ATC INFORMED US OF TFC 2 O'CLOCK, 5500 FT. MODE C INDICATED, BUT NOT TALKING TO ATC. WE WERE LEVEL AT 6000 FT AND HAD VISUAL CONTACT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. TFC WAS XING FROM OUR R TO OUR L. THE NEXT XMISSION I RECALL WAS, TFC 12 O'CLOCK, LESS THAN 1 MI, ALT INDICATING 5900 FT. THAT IS WHEN I TOOK EVASIVE ACTION. I BANKED HARD TO THE R, TURNED ABOUT 45 DEGS R. WHEN IT APPEARED WE WERE PAST HIM, WE TURNED BACK TOWARD CMH. AT THIS POINT, WE ENCOUNTERED HIS WAKE. WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ON ABOUT A 310 DEG HDG INITIALLY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TYPE ACFT HE WAS HE WAS NO BIGGER THAN US, BUT PROBABLY ABOUT THE SIZE OF SAY A KING AIR.
