Narrative:
15 mi sse sli VOR. Receiving vectors to sli VOR for approach to lax international. Socal vectored us (air carrier X BA3100) to heading 210 at 7000 ft after departing sna. Air carrier Y emb-120, also at 7000 ft was also vectored to sli VOR for approach to lax international. Our heading was 210 degrees his was roughly 060-090 degrees. He crossed left to right about 1/2 mi ahead. We descended immediately to avoid the traffic. We notified ATC of altitude deviation. Traffic was heavy and workload of ATC was high. WX was on top VFR, visibility very good.

Narrative: 15 MI SSE SLI VOR. RECEIVING VECTORS TO SLI VOR FOR APCH TO LAX INTL. SOCAL VECTORED US (ACR X BA3100) TO HDG 210 AT 7000 FT AFTER DEPARTING SNA. ACR Y EMB-120, ALSO AT 7000 FT WAS ALSO VECTORED TO SLI VOR FOR APCH TO LAX INTL. OUR HDG WAS 210 DEGS HIS WAS ROUGHLY 060-090 DEGS. HE CROSSED L TO R ABOUT 1/2 MI AHEAD. WE DSNDED IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID THE TFC. WE NOTIFIED ATC OF ALTDEV. TFC WAS HVY AND WORKLOAD OF ATC WAS HIGH. WX WAS ON TOP VFR, VISIBILITY VERY GOOD.
