Narrative:
We were cleared for landing (approximately 8 mi final). At approximately 2 mi, I noticed a peculiar light pattern in what was the overrun. As I neared it, I moved to the left slightly and banked to the right, it was another aircraft. We queried tower again and confirmed landing clearance. We were well above the aircraft, but ok for landing since sjc has a displaced threshold. We thought it different, but ok. Since tower cleared us.
