Narrative:

1 engine suddenly seemed to lose all power, then start up again, then lose all power, then start up again -- over and over again -- all very quickly. Airplane lurched left and right strongly, over and over again. Autoplt disconnected itself, took a couple of mins to decide to turn off engine computers and fly with engines on 'manual mode.' problem subsided, lurching stopped, immediately noticed airplane had gained 600 ft, probably because of my hands on controls to counteract lurching problem. Returned to correct altitude, informed ATC of problem, and that stability had been regained, and a few mins later landed at destination, otherwise uneventfully.

Title: TEMPORARY LOSS OF ACFT CTL, ALTDEV ALT EXCURSION.

Narrative: 1 ENG SUDDENLY SEEMED TO LOSE ALL PWR, THEN START UP AGAIN, THEN LOSE ALL PWR, THEN START UP AGAIN -- OVER AND OVER AGAIN -- ALL VERY QUICKLY. AIRPLANE LURCHED L AND R STRONGLY, OVER AND OVER AGAIN. AUTOPLT DISCONNECTED ITSELF, TOOK A COUPLE OF MINS TO DECIDE TO TURN OFF ENG COMPUTERS AND FLY WITH ENGS ON 'MANUAL MODE.' PROB SUBSIDED, LURCHING STOPPED, IMMEDIATELY NOTICED AIRPLANE HAD GAINED 600 FT, PROBABLY BECAUSE OF MY HANDS ON CTLS TO COUNTERACT LURCHING PROB. RETURNED TO CORRECT ALT, INFORMED ATC OF PROB, AND THAT STABILITY HAD BEEN REGAINED, AND A FEW MINS LATER LANDED AT DEST, OTHERWISE UNEVENTFULLY.
