Narrative:
After a very smooth touchdown on runway 31R at jfk with all indications normal nosewheel was lowered and engines reversed. At that time or soon thereafter aircraft was noticed to be slightly left wing down. Simultaneously the flight attendant at L-3 door reported what sounded like an explosion under the left wing. Aircraft was slowed and turned off at the last high speed taxiway and stopped just clear of the active runway. Brakes were parked, engines shut down and ground control notified to dispatch the rescue equipment. PA announcements were made to the cabin and company and maintenance notified. Port authority/authorized police arrived with steps some 10-15 min later and passenger were deplaned from R-1 door. When company maintenance arrived they advised that the left wing gear support trunnion had broken causing the gear to give way and slant backwards. The crew then deplaned and maintenance took control of the airplane. No indications or any problems were noticed on preflight at san juan. Also all indications of gear being safely down and locked were observed on final approach at jfk. WX was clear and daylight.
